Instagram will be Getting new Features for Monetization

Instagram says on a blog post that it will be helping creators on its platform who create their original content by Helping them to monetize their content. In the recent COVID-19 Pandemic Instagram has seen a surge in increase of users in its app and the live broadcast has seen a 70% increase in views.

Seeing all these Instagram has introduced two new ways to monetize the content posted on their platform.

Instagram badges:

Instagram will start badges feature on Live videos which will give fans the ability to purchase the badge and show support to the creator. The badge is a feature that is for the Live broadcast only.

Badges will appear next to a person’s name throughout the live video. Fans who have purchased badges in Live will stand out in the comments and unlock additional features, including placement on a creator’s list of badge holders and access to a special heart.

A similar type of feature is also there on Twitch and Youtube and Instagram will not take any proportion from the income through badges.

Badges will be sold at three price points — $0.99 (roughly Rs. 75), $1.99 (roughly Rs. 150) and $4.99 (roughly Rs. 378).

Badges will begin testing next month with a small group of creators( those are Avani Gregg, Eitan Bernath, and Salice Roseand ) businesses. Over the coming months, it will expand across the US, Brazil, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, and Mexico says the blog post

There is a form that you can fill out to join this feature.

IGTV Ads:

According to the demo video on the blog, this is similar to the youtube ads which is shown before videos but on Instagram, the duration of Ads will be of maximum 15 seconds.

Ads will be only shown when the user clicks to view the IGTV.

Creators will receive 55% of the Ad revenue from the ads that are played on their videos.

IGTV ads will be implemented from next week onwards. IGTV ads will be tested with a small group of creators and advertisers in the US and then slowly the expansion will take place to the rest of the world says Instagram.
